As part of the coursework, I created a media kit for a given scenario about Brianne’s Breakfasts, a London-based non-profit that provides free, healthy breakfasts to high school students. The organization launched a November fundraising campaign during National Teen Nutrition Month to raise awareness and donations for year-round operations. I presented a media advisory, backgrounder, and a rationale paper to support the campaign’s communication goals. The kit was designed to provide media with clear, concise, and compelling information to cover the campaign effectively.

As part of the coursework, my group and I developed a communications plan for a fictional public health campaign by the Middlesex-London Health Unit, aiming to reduce parental screentime as a strategy to indirectly curb excessive screentime among children. I presented Objectives, a Situational Analysis, Risks Summary, Audience Analysis, and Strategies and Tactics. The plan was designed to guide effective messaging and intervention to support healthier screen behaviours within families.

I wrote a profile of a PhD student at Western’s Faculty of Information and Media Studies who researches Russian propaganda. This assignment combined journalistic storytelling with a communications approach, aiming to highlight the student’s research and potential future implications. The final piece was published on the FIMS website and involved conducting an interview, crafting a compelling narrative, and aligning the tone with the faculty’s public-facing communications goals.
